Weather on the top of the mountain today was cloudy and rainy so I got to use my rain gear for the second time. Views were still amazing luckily, even through the clouds.

Passed into the province of Galicia (lots of Celtic influence here) and through the town of O Cebreiro at the top of the mountain where there is a large bronze statue of a pilgrim braced against the weather as this can be a particularly rough spot for storms.

As I came further down the mountain, the sky cleared and the sun was able to burn off the clouds. I walked for a while with a man in a tour group from Seoul, Korea. They are doing a 16 day hop on/hop off bus/hike version of the Camino. We took each other’s picture at this famous chestnut tree that has been estimated to be more than 800 years old!

Tomorrow I head to Sarria which is the town where many people begin their Camino because it is approximately 100km to Santiago from there; it is the minimum distance needed for the official certificate of completion. I started there with my family in 2022. I anticipate the crowds to grow exponentially! I am meeting my friends there and we will finish together. Getting very excited!
