Well my glutes are burning and I am regretting not doing more hill training, but I made it. A very steep elevation gain of 1960ft/ 600m. I walked like a tortoise with my giant backpack shell- slowly but surely, one foot in front of the other, as long as I continued to move forward…I knew I didn’t have that much distance to cover today so I could take my time and take frequent breathing breaks. I tried not to be discouraged by the multiple people that breezed past me. A little frustrating, like learning to ski as an adult and having toddlers zoom past you down the mountain, but going uphill in this case…

Taking a picture is a great excuse to pause while walking up the hill. I took lots of pictures today…

Pilgrims’ group dinner will be in a few hours- time to shower and do laundry and hang it out in the sun to dry. As expected, my new friends beat me here and were resting on the patio when I arrived. Tomorrow is the same elevation gain but spread out so not as steep. Up and over the mountain and across the border into Spain. It will be a long day of walking, so I must rest up tonight.

View from the hostel- not too shabby

Love your attitude. And since it is YOUR Camino, take as many ‘pictures’ as you want!!
