7 Sept 2025

This is my current daily routine: get up and brush my teeth and finish packing my pack. Then walk for 4-8 hours depending on the day. On the way I stop for breakfast and sometimes second breakfast, often determined by my need to use the bathroom. When I arrive at my Albergue for the night, I pick my bed or get assigned a bed, then head right to shower and change into tomorrow’s walking clothes. After I am clean, I wash that day’s laundry by hand and usually hang it to dry with the other pilgrim’s laundry. While it is drying I lay on my bed and put my feet up and do my blogging/log in/check phone. After an hour or two I go to check on the laundry and bring it in to pack it if it is dry. I pack up my backpack except for my toiletries and sleep sack and I go eat dinner- after dinner I sometimes try to talk to family and then I go to sleep wearing tomorrow’s walking clothes.

Well- yesterday I went back to check on my drying laundry and gathered it all up except my underwear was missing and someone else’s were hung where mine had been. It was quite windy so some people’s items had fallen. I’m sure it was an innocent mistake, but now I am down a pair of skivvies!

Today’s weather was cloudy and cool with a breeze which was perfect for me for walking. I decided to take advantage of it and really push myself today and I walked 31.7 km/19.8 miles. I am pretty tired! I passed a town with castle ruins on a hill and also amazing ruins of an abby from the 1300s. Most of the walls are still standing but the ceiling is now the sky.

The look of the land of the Meseta is very interesting. It is flat until there is a section that was carved out by an ancient glacier or river. That is where all the towns are, near water sources. So the Camino goes up to the plateau leaving town and stays there for a while, and then down again to the next town.

I will probably do a shorter walking day tomorrow! I’m pooped!

Almost 29 miles is NO JOKE! But down some skivvies isn’t either. But I can honestly say there’s never been a trip with my hubby where we haven’t had to find another pair of undies for him. Perhaps he’s just bad at math? Lawyers!?!? IMs sure an angel with skivvies is in your future! 😘

OK, this is good info. Will make sure all my undies are standouts. Polka dots? Marvel characters!
