If I were not hiking in it, I would be very excited about all these gorgeous sunny days in Spain; however the warm sun bearing down upon me as I trudge slowly up a 16% incline hillside is not my favorite. But I am some kind of glutton for punishment because I decided to push onward for an additional 2.6km of uphill sunshine than I had already planned for, reasoning that it will make tomorrow’s hike up and over the mountain, shorter. I am right near the border of Castilla y Leon province and the province of Galicia which I will head across over the next 8 days to finish the Camino. This was the last big mountain so I suppose it is nice to have it mostly behind me!

Until the final section and steep climb, today was a very nice walk through the valleys of El Bierzo area, livestock farming, and streams, and forest, and blissful shade.

Funniest moment of the day was walking through a tiny town when my new friend Jennifer from Indiana pointed out these “Cats on a Hot Tin Roof”!

Tomorrow is downhill, less steep than previous descents, with more towns (read opportunities to rest), and with supposedly more clouds.
