Started out at dawn this morning with the very noticeable smell of wildfire in the air. There were two path options for today’s walk and I chose the shorter one because I was meeting my friends in Sarria; it turned out the other path was much closer to the smoke so I was very happy with my choice! The smoke was a visible haze in the valleys as I came further out of the hills toward Sarria, the town which is a starting point for many, many pilgrims.

Drizzle started as I walked through the rolling hills. I actually don’t mind walking in the rain except that I long for windshield wipers for my glasses.

Galicia seems very lush after days in the dry grasses of the Meseta.

Arrived in Sarria to meet my friends who had arrived late last night. We had a nice Spanish meal, took some touristy photos, and prepped for our walk tomorrow!
