Much more pleasant walking weather today although it was still chilly over night and I slept with my “layers” on.

I am having moments of memories flashing back to me now from my last trip here in 2022. Stopping for breaks in the same places I had with my family and noticing how some things have changed but much has not. My friends, Trina and Catie, are probably getting tired of hearing me say- oh I remember this! We are finding it is much more pleasant to be “off stage” and not walking at the same times as the large mass of pilgrims. This area of Spain has many eucalyptus forests which is both beautiful to see and to smell as we walk through.

After a very long day of walking (17.5m/28km), we ended the day in the town of Melide which is known for their octopus dish, Pulpo á feira, boiled and served with olive oil and paprika. My father is currently in Santiago awaiting my finish so he taxied out to join us for dinner!

I am writing very happily from a warm bed for the night. After two cold nights in municipal no frills albergues, we have a private apartment for the night and I have two cozy blankets on my bed! Three more days of walking left! They say it takes 30 days to set a new habit and I have been walking for 31 now, so it may feel very strange for me to suddenly not get up each morning and go walk!
