After a delicious community style meal for the pilgrims in my albergue of gazpacho, pasta with meat sauce, and pork loin, and sleeping for 8.5 hours last night, I felt pretty great this morning but I still did not want to over do my walking today. I have met many people who think walking the Meseta is boring so they are renting e-bikes and biking through until the big city of Leon. While the landscape can be monotonous at times, I am finding beauty in the ordinary and getting lost in my thoughts. Today I had the option to walk along the road or a more natural path- so I walked along the tree-lined irrigation canal and took peace from the whispering sounds of the wind in the leaves.

As the canal reached the next major town, it had waterfalls and locks. Something very common and simple was still quite pretty.

I passed the town of Fromista which supplied the Roman Empire with wheat and grains, and their church which is an excellent example of Romanesque architecture, built in 1066, before the introduction of the pointed Gothic arch that allowed walls to be taller and windows to be larger.

Weather started cloudy and cool but cleared up nicely right around the time I arrived at my Albergue where I now sit in the sun subtly guarding my laundry on the wash line. 😜
